When they stay on, they do the exact job the're intended to do. I've done 45°+ snow chutes with them on, where c2-3 crampons would have been ideal. You stick like a gecko to icy rocks on steep descents off munros. Unfortunately I had a steel loop linking the heel chain to the rubber come loose, and the heel spikes just flapping on the side. On the way down off of Ben Macdui, in crap conditions. The loops have to be bent tighter to make sure this doesn't happen. Fixed it with a spring link from a fishing lure. A star lost for this.
